Introduction

The purpose of today’s exercise is to support you in developing a Godly understanding and expression of your sexuality so that you might find wholeness and fulfilment in this important part of your life. This can be a challenging task for a young person growing up in today’s culture for several reasons:

Dominant cultural beliefs and values around sexuality are often in conflict with traditional Christian teachings; in Western culture this often involves an explicit rejection of Christian teaching. There are significant divisions within the church around questions of human sexuality

Developments in media and communications technology, fashion, art and social structures are creating a highly sexualised environment for young people to grow up in

Sexual sins within the church have shaken confidence in the teachings of the church.

And so today we trust we can achieve three things:

  1. Honour and value your sexuality as a beautiful part of who God has created you to be
  2. Create a safe place for open and honest conversation
  3. Open up some ways to develop a Godly understanding and expression of your sexuality.
