How is your bible reading and prayer life going?

An important part of the Christian life is reading God’s Word because this is how God speaks to us.

  • 2 Peter 1:20-21 – Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17– All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:13– And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

Another important aspect of the Christian life is prayer because we have a personal God that hears our prayers and answers them.

  • 1 John 5:14 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
  • John 9:31 – “We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.”
  • 1 Peter 3:12 – “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

These are so important and yet whenever I speak to young people, they share how much of a struggle this is for them. For this reason, a key part of CMT is Bible journaling, discipleship, and prayer. It is my desire that this will help you to develop these spiritual disciplines, which you will hopefully continue once you have completed CMT. It’s so important that you see these as an opportunity to grow in your faith and not as a task to be ticked off.
