Effective Discipleship Group Time

Effective Discipleship Group Time

Group Dynamics

Group Dynamics describes the way in which people in a group interact with one another. When dynamics are positive, the group works well together. When dynamics are poor, the group’s effectiveness is reduced. Understanding this is not only important for our Discipleship Group, but also for your Ministry Placement. These are some ways to improve the dynamics of the groups that you are involved with.

  • Know your group
  • When problems arise tackle them quickly with good feedback.
  • Define roles and responsibilities.
  • Break down barriers.
  • Focus on communication.
  • Pay attention.

  • How might each of these apply to our Discipleship Group?

Goal and Mission of Discipleship Group Time

It is my goal for this Discipleship Group that we grow to know each other, but more importantly that we grow in our faith. The Christian mission is to help people know, show, and share the gospel of Jesus, including understanding what God’s word says. That is, we are supposed to make disciples of Jesus.

This is the mission of this Discipleship Group, but it is also your mission as you interact with others. Your task as a disciple of Jesus Christ is to disciple others through helping people know, show, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. This means helping people come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. Discipleship is about building relationships- it means building a relationship with Jesus as well we build relationships with each other. For this to be effective it must be intentional.
