The Basic Requirements and Structure of the Certificate III in Christian Ministry & Theology (CMT)

Discipleship Group time

Discipleship Group time involves meeting together for 9 periods per fortnight where we will work through as much of the content as we can together. However, if this is not completed during class time, there is an expectation that you will complete this at home in your own time. The content is discussion-based but will also include responses to questions in the CMT quizzes that demonstrate your understanding of the content that will be used to identify your competency in the various areas.

What does it mean to be competent?

The Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology (CMT) is competency-based. This means that to successfully complete this course you need to demonstrate competency in several Performance Criteria.

It is not like other subjects where you achieve a percentage or mark. In CMT, you either demonstrate competency or you do not. However, to achieve Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology you must demonstrate competency in all the required tasks.

These will be assessed during Discipleship Group time, through the CMT quizzes, Bible journaling, Presentations, and Masterclass reflections as well as through the out-of-classwork, which includes:

  • Primary Ministry Placement (minimum 40 hours)
  • Camp Ministry Placement (minimum 16 hours)
  • Discipleship with a mature Christian (minimum 10 hours and minimum 7 meeting times)
  • Church Family Engagement (minimum 30 hours and minimum 15 meeting times)

You will need to provide a record of each of these- documenting the date, time spent, what you did, etc to verify the hours.
